Happy [YOUR SPRING HOLIDAY HERE]!!
April 4th, 2010
Today is Easter and a week of Passover is nearly over. A heartfelt “Happy [Your Spring Holiday Here].”
In honor of the holiday(s), I’m suggesting, in no particular order, some Easter/Christian-themed and/or Jewish/Passover-themed films for your cinema satisfaction.
Easter Parade
The Ten Commandments
The Song of Bernadette
Fiddler on the Roof
A Nun’s Story
Doubt
Goodbye Columbus
The Greatest Story Ever Told

Of course there are countless religious-themed films, embracing the cinema spectrum from elegy to screed. I’m sure everyone has a favorite religious-themed film (or a film with religion as an important element). What’s yours?

From my standpoint, the best movie about religion is The Invention of Lying.
Great suggestion! I seem to have left out religious comedies (an oxymoron?) entirely. My favorite would have to be “Monty Python’s Life of Brian.”
With the current news, I think fondly of the Catholic fashion show in Fellini’s “Roma.”. It’s hard to beat cardinals on roller skates! 😉
