The REAL Story? $116 Million!
Sure, last night was the 2009 Academy Awards… And a female director won for the first time in 82 years!
“Alice inWonderland” made $116 Million over the weekend! This tells us several things: people will still pay for movies, 3-D is here to stay, and even the weekend of the Academy Awards can draw record business… And it doesn’t hurt that Tim Burton has a hit after “Sweeney Todd” and “Planet of the Apes.” So think of this $116 million opening weekend as the opening salvo in the 3-D movie war of 2010.
